NCM / sinnipets how to save your running config

I an new to NCM. I am using the sinnets to make global changes to my configs on all the network devices, this works great, however what I notices is that the running config is not saved after the changes are made.

I tired to check the box that states to commit the changes to NRAM, but it warms you that you should only do that if you are uploading the entire config ( so I don't check the box)

How do I run a snippet and save the config at the same time?

Are you using TFTP? If you check the NRAM and do not upload the complete conifg it will overwrite everything with just the config snippet.

Config snippets is for on the fly type changes. But, for a global change I would suggest using a command script and use the scheduled job features to perform your roll out.

However, I am not sure exactly what type of change you are wanting to make. Let me know what your trying to do and to whay device types and I will see what I can come up with for you :-)

I am using Telnet.

The snippets work properly .... it doesn't matter what commands we put in. The problem is that it does not SAVE the config, so if the router /switch reboots, you loose the configuration.

I tried the following to solve the problem and it seemed to work:

the snippet was:

no snmp-server host 144.171.36.10 nrc
exit
wr mem

[ I was removing a server from receiving traps and then saved the config.]

I just assumed that the snippet would autmatically save the config, but it doesn't. I guess that for as long as you use "telnet" exiting the config and then saving it. I guess you would have to type "exit " more than one time if you were deeper in the configuration tree.

Yes, that is a workaround you can use it just post to the config and no write but adding it within the snippet will work. This is generally why others use the command scripts since they put in the full exit and write for changes.

Config snippets are useful for on the fly changes and such, but as you have stated does not save it fully to the device. The write to memory that config snippets uses uploads and replaces only the config snippet and saves.
