Axis Network Cameras

Has anyone had any experience using NPM to monitor Axis network cameras? They show up with the correct 'Machine Type' (Axis Communications AB), but are grouped by vendor under 'Unknown' with an APC logo??

I've tried using the MIB Browser and MIB Walk tools and they seem to identify the device correctly when given it's ip address and SNMP community string, but I dont see any vendor information in the MIB...any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Any update on this? We are adding quite a few and I'm surprised that since 2010 this Vendor has not been added. Is there a reason?

The only time i have seen this behavior is when the community string was entered into the device after discovery. Try re-adding the devices again manually and see what you get under list resources.

Hi Ryan

We monitor over 1000 AXIS IP Cameras and few different types. The AXIS product we use dose support SNMP 1,2 and 3. Currently we monitor SNMP 2 and it works well. AXIS supports many more polling features and I am working with AXIS engineers and solar-winds support team to clarify some of the OID's from AXIS products.

This would be great to have a defined Machine Type for these cameras as Security in Health (Hospital's, Clinics, etc) are becoming a big deal and it would be a real asset to be able to specifically identify and monitor these cameras.

Just curious were you able to get valuable input from the SNMP monitoring on the Axis cameras? We have are getting the same results as Ryan above and wondered if you had any luck?

I agree I've got over 400 cameras and I can't believe there's no way of monitoring these in Solarwinds,
