Good afternoon

My problem:

I have a group of servers called 'Server Group A' need 'User Group A' be able to suppress alerts on.

I don't want 'User Group A' to touch (or ideally see) any other servers in SolarWinds, other than their 'Server Group A' servers.

The only thing that 'User Group A' needs to be able to do is perform a mute on servers when they are performing maintenance.

So my questions are:

- Can we lock down 'User Group A' only to see 'Server Group A' Servers?

- Can we then lock them down so they can only perform a 'mute' operations?

- If not, what is my best option here?

I've had a quick look around and I'm not sure this is going to be as easy as I thought it would be.

I got this working.

- Created an AD group to tie 'User Group A'

- Created a new SolarWinds User Group tied to this AD Group

- Created a new SolarWinds Device Group called 'Server Group A'

- Created a Dynamic IP based query to tie my servers to this group.

- Went back to my new SolarWinds group and under 'Account Limitations' I tied these users ONLY to this single group.

- Selected No for everything apart from 'Allow Account to Unmanage Objects and Mute Alerts’

Sadly the closest option you will have is the "Allow Account to Unmanage Objects & Mute Alerts"

So you can restrict which devices they can apply this too with the Account Limitation, but they will be able to UnManage AND Mute for those devices.

I got this working.

- Created an AD group to tie 'User Group A'

- Created a new SolarWinds User Group tied to this AD Group

- Created a new SolarWinds Device Group called 'Server Group A'
