Orion to monitor Solaris & Linux with kernel 2.1?
Oct_7
Hi,
I am really new to Orion thing. I am just wondering whether I am able to monitor my servers running on Sun Solaris and Linux with Kernel 2.1 & above? I heard that some network monitoring softwares have problem with linux with kernel 2.1 & above. I am running the sun server as a check point firewall, and the linux servers as business server.
If it is possible to monitor those servers, do I need to install the net-snmp to monitor them?
It's a bit urgent, appreciate if anyone can reply me quickly.
Thank you very much,
Best regards

You can monitor your Linux and Sun servers as long as they have the host resources mib loaded up. NET-SNMP seems to be the most popular route in terms of providing the necessary MIBs for SolarWinds.
