Hello
I can monitor the Mail server status and the status of the Exchange services, but it is possible to monitor the Mailbox Stores?
Thank you
What is it about the mailbox stores specifically you'd like to monitor? Have you looked at any of the following application templates?
Exchange 2010 Statistics with PowerShell
Exchange 2010 Database Availability Group
Our UX team is also looking for feedback on some mockups they've created for some potential improvements to our Exchange monitoring if you are willing to participate and provide suggestions or comments.
Hi,
I am looking to alert on when the mailbox stores are unmounted in Exchange 2003.
I am happy to assist... is this on a test network you are hosting as I work on a closed network.
Thank you,
Mike
Likely the easiest way to monitor for this condition would be to alert on the event generated in the Windows Event Log when this occurs. Another possibility is to see if the Windows Performance Counters for the mail store disappear when it's dismounted. In that case you could simply monitor any performance counter related to that mail store and alert when it's in a down or unknown status.
However, probably the best way to monitor the status of the mailbox store is the same way your users do. Using the MAPI, POP3, or IMAP4 User Experience Monitors you can monitor any mailbox in that mail store to verify that mail is both being received and delivered correctly.
Sounds good, I will submit the solution to see I should submit a CR to proceed. Thank you!
actually the power shell scripts look like something I could use, I see some references for cross forest monitoring.
that is the area I think SolarWinds falls short in for MSP.
Do these work well in a cross forest arena?
Thanks
Several of these templates for Exchange 2010 have been updated recently to support cross domain/forest monitoring where no trusts exist. Perfect for MSP style monitoring where each customer is in their own unique domain.
