NCM Reports f5 Machine Type as "net-snmp - Linux"

We have several f5s that we're monitoring on our network with NCM - 7.4.

Most f5s are on 11.6 HF4, but two of them are on 11.6 HF1. One of the units when added to NCM is being reported as "net-snmp" as the Machine Type. I've re-added it couple times and verified that it has the same NCM settings as the other f5s. Even other f5s I've added after this one have been identified correctly.

I saw on a Thwack post a while back that one of the solutions was to change the SNMP OID that is polled during discovery, but I'm not sure where this is configured. Isn't there an easier softer way - like "Edit Properties" and just let me pick the device type I think it should be?

I'm having the same problem here. We have two F5 appliances - HA pair, same version, one is reported as F5 Labs, the other net-snmp - Linux.

Did you ever find a solution for this?

I didn’t find a solution, but the problem cleared up on it’s own over time. I’m not quite sure what happened, but since I can’t reproduce it, I don’t have an answer for you. Sorry.

Edit - One thing that did change between that time and now, is that we're on 11.6 HF5, so not sure if upgrading or rebooting the f5 cleared up the problem. I just noticed recently that it had corrected itself, and we did the upgrade a couple months back.
