Hot Standby Engine - What happens when the database goes away

Hi All,

We had an issue over the weekend where we lost our entire SAN infrastructure. Unfortunately since both our NPM and SQL servers are virtualised on the same SAN we lost it all.

So, I have been tasked with finding a way to alert when Orion is unavailable.

Looking at the Hot Standby Engine, it appears to monitor the database to see when the poller stops writing to it. It is able to alert when this happens but...

What happens when the Database is unavailable, can we alert on this event as well?
