Question on organization of applications & monitors

Hi all,

I am an exterme newbie to this product, so my apologies if this is basic. My goal is to setup a portal page which allows for the selection of a project code (this determines which specific servers are involved) and allow the user to see status across different sql servers, web servers, file servers, etc in one view. Note that these could be network monitors as well as application monitors involved. In addition I would like to be able to have custom monitors (SQL Server experience monitor) run based on the selected project code. My first question is - is this possible to do at all? If not are there any alternatives people would suggest? If so, what approach is the best for creating this sort of "one stop" view to see a system's health across different node types.
