Alert on high Discards?

Can I configure an alert to go out on high discard count? When we view the top10, every now and again, we see a high discard count (millions of discarded packets). I can't seem to figure out how to have an alert emailed out, so I can look through the syslog data right when it happens to help us identify where the breakdown is.

You can do this with basic alerts, there is an option under interface errors in property to monitor for transmit or receive discards this hour or per day. You can then set the alert threshold to be greater than x and the reset threshold to be less than x for either that hour or day.

can you set up these options under what type of account?do you have to have a admistrator account before you can alter these settings?

You need to be on the server hosting Orion and then configure the alert through the Orion system manager, you can't configure alerts through the web page.
