Dramatic Decrease in Events Per Hour

I run "All Events for Last 10 Minutes" a couple of times a day just to make sure the appliance is active. Until a few days ago I was seeing roughly 20,000 to 25,000 events per 10 minutes. Now I am only seeing about 2,000. There have not been any major changes to our network. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this, or how to go about trouble-shooting? Thanks!
