Create an Email Alert that will contain the output of Windows PowerShell SAM Template

Hi guys,

I have created a Windows PowerShell SAM template that generates some output from a terminal server (I.e files deleted, file dates etc).. I would like the outputs of this script (I.e the write-output content) to be displayed in an email alert to be generated. I'm fairly new to SolarWinds so I am not sure what the best way to create this email alert is and more importantly how I can have it produce the output of the script displayed in the email.

Thanks but I dont think this outlines what I'm needing. I need to get my PowerShell SAM to output its results in am email alert, and I'm unaware of how I can do that. The powershell script works but I'm unable to implement the output as an email alert.

Another method is to send the email directly from your script. Here is the code to do that.

$EmailFrom = “BobMarley”

$EmailTo = “AllMyFans@webejammin.org”

$Subject = “RedRedWine”

$Body = “This is where the alert stuff goes”

$SMTPServer = “smtpgateway.webejammin.org”

$SMTPClient = New-Object Net.Mail.SmtpClient($SmtpServer, 25)

$SMTPClient.EnableSsl = $false

$SMTPClient.Credentials = New-Object System.Net.NetworkCredential(“usr”, “pass”);

$SMTPClient.Send($EmailFrom, $EmailTo, $Subject, $Body)

Assuming you have the script set up in SAM and assigned to your nodes you just need to put the output into the "$Body" variable.

The code above will sent the email directly from your powershell script, no alert needed.

You can use a macro in the alert to execute SQL or SWQL - this can return the values and put them in your alert.
