Hi All,
I'm having a strange problem with monitoring some of our Windows Servers (2003 and 2000) via APM (3.5) using WMI.
We're monitoring a whole host of services and hosts without issue, but every now and again (I'm talking one occurance every couple of weeks), an application monitor will drop into an unknown state, saying that the Service Account used by APM can't log into the server to retrieve the WMI stats. So far the application monitor has always come back without intervention, usually about an hour later.
I suspect this is probably something on the monitored servers rather than an APM issue as it only seems to affect a handful of servers out of nearly 200, but I'm running out of idea's of why it might occur.
If you check the event logs of the monitored server while the issue is happening, it does record failed login's by the APM account in the security logs, but eventually it will just start accepting the credentials again, with absolutely no manual intervention, unfortunately the servers don't seem to record anything useful when the issue starts or ends, and I can't see anything in the polling Servers logs which sheds any light on it.
Has anyone seen anything similar to this at all?
Regards,
Paul
