HTTP Template

Does the HTTP template use IE on the node its tested from or does the test work some other way?

The reason for asking I'm trying to come up with a way of testing our Web proxy servers to make sure they're working at all times as we had a failure yesterday and didn't know about it until our helpdesk was flooded with calls.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Jon,

I am not sure which browser APM uses in the background but we use McAfee Webgateway and test the functionality with APM. We had an issue where APM was unable to pass the authentification but users were able to use the webgateway just fine (it turned out to be an issue with mcafee), therefore at least some things work differently within APM.

Hope this helps at least a little until some SW-Staff can give more information on this

APM internally does not use IE or any other real browser. We are using classes from .NET to simulate what browser would do - create a web request, get response from web server and interpret it.

In most situations this will work correctly with your web servers and proxy servers. However there is for example limitation that APM doesn't execute javascript.

Issue referenced by Questionario is related to bug in McAfee proxy when using NTLM authentication (https://community.mcafee.com/message/134776) and McAfee was supposed to fix it in later version of their proxy server.
