Cisco ASA vs. Cirrus 9.1 Slow

When we push commands with cirrus to routers and switches, they respond very quickly. However, when pusing to the ASA it is incredably slow. We are deploying ASA's to replace routers at many of our hub and spoke sites and this is affecting us substantally.

We use ASA5510 with SSH and TAC. The TAC config is very simple and commands are very quick when typed from the command line.

Is anyone else having this issue? We opened a case with tech support on November 19th and despite several follup emails we have had no response.

After upgrading to NCM V.5.5, the performence is greatly improved for ALL ASA. In addition it now seems to work with HP 2524.

I have a feeling that aquistion of KIWI Catools may have had something to do with that. IT always supported Authentication flawleslly.

Have you tried telnet? That would help you narrow the issue a little.

I'm the support engineer assigned to your case. It was opened by Michael Tai and he and I have actually corresponded quite a few times, so there has definitely been a response from us. My last message to him indicated that I have asked our NCM developers to look into this issue and I would let him know as soon as I have an update. They are still investigating the problem but I will be getting back with Michael as soon as I have more information. FYI... After the upgrade to V5 the same issues exists.

I guess we could try that, but it would not really help us, since we have to use SSH and Tac.

I've just installed NCM. I have also experienced extremely slow config script uploads using SSH to a Cisco ASR1004 as well as a Cisco 2960. In the time it took too upload a one line command to two devices, I probably could have performed it manually about 10 times. Well maybe 8 times.

I don't even want to think about how long a network wide password change would take. As it stands now, I'm starting to wonder if i've wasted my money.

Strangly enough, for us it's just the ASA's. I'm not saying it's quick for routers and switches, but for the ASA it can take 30min just to uploade a small block of text.
