How do I stop getupdatedates.vbs?

I recently deployed SAM for the first time in our environment. I have been getting alerts that the script getupdatedates.vbs is attempting to run on our monitored servers. I believe this is part of the Asset Inventory Polling process. Is there a way to turn off the execution of that script globally without disabling other polling?

As far, as I know there is no built-in functionality to disable it.

You could try, at your own risk, modify your Orion database in this way:

SELECT [Name] as [NameXml]
  ,CAST(CAST([PollingDescription] AS VARCHAR(MAX)) AS XML) as [PollingDescriptionXml]
INTO #MyTempTable 
  FROM [dbo].[AssetInventory_PollingDescription]
       WHERE [Type]='WMI'

  UPDATE #MyTempTable 
     SET [PollingDescriptionXml].modify('delete
//component[dataSource[contains(@type,"FromVBScriptDataSource")]]') 

--SELECT [PollingDescriptionXml], CAST([PollingDescriptionXml] AS NVARCHAR(max)) FROM #MyTempTable 

UPDATE [dbo].[AssetInventory_PollingDescription]
SET [PollingDescription] = CAST(tt.[PollingDescriptionXml] AS NVARCHAR(max))
FROM #MyTempTable tt
WHERE [Name]=[NameXml]

DROP TABLE #MyTempTable 

and then restart Orion services.

This should disable the AssetInventory VB scripts for all WMI/agent nodes.

This is an unsupported solution and you have to redo it after each Orion configuration wizard run.
