getting the syslog to page me

Dear All,

I have solarwinds orion and notepager pro. I can send alerts via notepager pro using the orion alerts however there is no option on how to do this when using the syslog application. Can someone tell me how I couls set this up?

Have you tried setting up Syslog/Alert Filter Rules?

On the Orion server, open the Syslog Viewer -> go to View and select Alert/Filter Rules -> Add a new rule -> on last tab you can setup an Alert Action

Hi,

Yes thats where I tried to set it up. Even though it says the alert action is "Email/Page" There is no field or tab to put in the pager recipients name that I have created in Notepager pro. In the Orion alerting there is actually a specific "pager" alerting action and if you put in the recipients name for the person it correlates to the recipients you have created in notepager pro. In the syslog viewer alert section it is different. It only accepts email addresses. Am I missing something here?

I hate to dig up an old thread, but does anyone have an answer to this? Using NPM alerting there is an option for "Dial Paging or SMS Service", that option does not exist in the alert setup for Syslog.

I agree, why doesn't the 'Dial Paging or SMS Service' exist for Syslog and Trap alerts ???
