Comparing Manage Pollers vs UnDP in NPM 10.7

I am only beginning to look at the new Manage Pollers section of NPM 10.7 and at first glance I wonder what it is really for.

Is it eventually intended to replace the Universal Device Poller tool? What can I do with it that I cannot do with the UnDP tool now? Why is it limited to CPU and Memory pollers?

I think this is the start of work to allow the mapping of SysObjectID onto Vendor,MachineType, and the vendor-specific pollers.

e.g. if Juniper add a new router I could specify what OIDS to poll for these values.

I just love the control it give you on what poller should be on and what off.

better control = much better scalability of the system.

So, it sounds like if you want to create a true custom OID poller, you still need to use the UnDP tool, correct?

A few more questions because I watched the brief video by Rob Hock showing how to create an OID poller mapped to a specific OID for multiple CPUs on a device. The Manage Pollers tool really does look like a web-based UnDP. So, again, my question is what are the differences between the Manage Pollers tool in the web GUI and the UnDP tool on the NPM server?

When would I use on over the other?

Does the Manage Pollers tool give me the ability to enable/disable "built-in" OIDs for polling AND create custom OID pollers?

Please help me understand the use case for both tools. Thanks you.
