NCM Email Notification of Changes to Configuration Files

I’m running Solarwinds Orion version 6.1 and have the system setup to run the schedule nightly backup and then email me the results.

 

Unfortunately, I cannot see an option to declare:-

“ONLY send the changes since the last base line”

Or

“ONLY send the changes since last download”.

 

As I have 271 items being managed in this manner, the emails I get in the morning (when dumped in word) translate to:-

 

Pages                                                    413

Words                                                   88,455

Characters (no spaces)                  544,248

Characters (with spaces)              1,841,468

Paragraphs                                         11,820

Lines                                                      20,836

 

Clearly the functionality to do comparisons is extremely valuable but when your dealing with these kinds of numbers, then the email becomes worthless as I can’t easily trawl through 20,000 lines of information looking for one line that one of the engineers has changed by mistake.

 

Does anyone know of a way of either:-

 

·         “ONLY send the changes since the last base line”

Or

·         “ONLY send the changes since last download”.

The config nightly backup will send you notice of devices that were backed up, not of changes.

So, assuming you mean the Config change report job, it does have options to Show changes of only most recent to last baseline or since last download.

Take a look at the change report job and see if you weren't getting emails from one job, but looking at another and let me know.
