SQL server user exp monitor problem

I am having trouble getting a SQL server user experience monitor to work. The monitor won't come up, and is unable to establish a connection to the server.

What should be entered in the SQL Server Instance field? Do I enter server/instance, or just instance?

Enter only the instance name. If you're using the default SQL Server instance, which has no name, leave the field blank.

What is the exact error message you are seeing?
