Proxy Template

I am trying to create a template, to test that our proxy is working - rather than relying on our users to complain when its running slowly. It would appear though that APM is not authenticating with the proxy, when asked for HTTP auth - I have set some credentials that have rights to access the internet. APM simply returns the error: "Unexpected error occurred. HTTP 407. Proxy authentication required. The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.".

In addition to this, the variables ${IP} and ${PORT} do not work in the Proxy field, which somewhat defies the point of creating a proxy template!

I'd be interested in a sensible workaround for this too. I have a number of proxies I'd like to check the serving of an external site through.

I realise this can be accomplished by using a different template for each proxy and harcoding the IP address, but I'd much prefer an approach that scales better.

I am having a trouble with proxy too. I would like to test the http user exp to google.com but the proxy requires username/password. is there any way to add username and pasword for the proxy authen? thanks

I too have a few issues with this since I just upgraded to 9.5 SP4. I've been using the HTTP experience monitors to probe the proxies I have around my offices - the variables dont work for the proxy address which is really annoying - you have to use the real IP of the proxy (this isnt new - they've always not worked for the proxy setting) - and it doesnt even take DNS names so I have to manually adjust the proxy IPs for EVERY test that I setup which is a real pain.

I apply an APM monitor to each proxy so I can see whether the ISP line is up or not and it generally works fine - although the response times I would see on the graphs seemed much higher than real life (like 12secs to open wikipedia when it would open in 1-2 seconds on my pc). But I could live with it - it did show things being down when they were down (although sometimes I had to set the timeout really high to make this work well for proxies that were far from me (over 100ms).

I dont use authentication btw - but I notice in 9.5 SP4 after I tried to modify a pre existing APM monitor which had 3 websites in it - I changed the last one - it broke completely(!). Then I had to remove the last monitor and add it as a separate new APM monitor rather than as part of the group (anyone else seen this?) before it would work again. At a new solarwinds site I tried setting this up for a colleague to show how we use the monitors and we couldnt seem to make it work reliably - it would poll for a while then show down - then come back again - first time I saw this. When I went back to mine to play with the setting I found I had this problem too after modifying my already stable and working APM monitor - even changing it back to the identical previous setting didn't work...

Is this just me? Do I need a support ticket for a fix?
