TFTP server on Windows Server 2003 x64 SP2

Hi,

I would like to use the TFTP server to download the configs from some devices. I am however not able to install the TFTP server as it requires one of several specific OS's as the platform and Windows 2003 Server x64 SP2 doesn't seem to be one of them. Is there a newer version of the Solarwinds TFTP server available or is there some other workaround available?

I have exactly the same problem. Windows 2003 x64 is supported for Orion but not for the TFTP-Server.

Are you using the TFTP server included with Orion NCM or the free version?

I tryed both. They generate the same error message.

Please open a support ticket and reference this post. We'll want to look into this because we specifically tested for interoperability between EE and NCM TFTP servers.

Here's how you get around it..

Open your TEMP folder in Windows Explorer
1. The easiest way to do this is by running a command prompt:
2. CD \
3. CD %temp%
4. start . (don't foget the .)
Start the installation of the TFTP software.
1. When you get the installation error, leave it on the screen. Do not click OK.
In your TEMP folder you will see 2 additional folders created (They will have a GUID naming structure). One of them contains "SolarWinds TFTP Server.msi" Copy that to C:\
Click OK on the setup error message.
From a command prompt execute the following:
1. CD \ (Just in case you're not in the root)
2. msiexec /i "SolarWinds TFTP Server.msi" ISSETUPDRIVEN=1
Setup should run now and you can delete the .msi when you are finished
