Hi All,
How license for virtualization is calculated .it is based on no of vcenters or esxi servers?
If you are talking about VMAN, it's licensed by the number of sockets in your environment. SolarWinds sells the license pack in specific increments, so if you fall in between the tiers, you'll have to upgrade to the next tier.
No of sockets means ..it s cpu count of esxi?
It's the physical cpu count. So if you have a socket with 8 cores, to the ESX environment you have 8 cpus. But you only have to license the socket.
Yes this is correct...this is from their documentation:
Activate the license of Virtualization Manager
SolarWinds Virtualization Manager is licensed according to the number of CPU sockets per monitored host.
One way to make it easy. If you are running a trial version, add all of the vCenters / hosts that you want to monitor. After adding them, VMAN will pull the socket count. If you look under the Setup tab, it will say Host Sockets XXX. Licensed for YYY.
