NCM Config Change email - missing GIF images?

I have noticed an issue with my NCM config change HTML email notifications, where the add/remove/change GIF images show up as black boxes, and not the typical plus/minus logos (see attached screenshot below). The header JPG is fine, and the rest of the HTML email is correct, but the blank images is bothering me. Any idea why this would happen, and where the logos are stored? viewing source in the email shows them as 'cid' embedded images, and sending them to an external email does not resolve the problem either. We have also restarted the Orion server to no avail.

We're running NCM 7.0.2 on Core 2012.1.0 (the server is also running NPM, IPAM, SAM and Netflow), however I did notice on the previous NCM version 7.0, but I'm not sure exactly when it started.

Well, Jiri's comment did get me on teh right track and I finally figured it out: the account that runs the scheduled task also needs permission at the SQL level. In my case, the service accont was already a local administrator on both the NCM and Database servers (Orion is separate from the database in our environment), as well as having 'Log on as batch job' permissions on both.

The solution was to add our service account to the SQL server security with only the 'public' Server Role. I did not even have to specify a role membership on the NCM Config database directly (we're using SQL 2005).
