Reporting

I am probably missing it, so Ill ask.

We used to use Solarwinds (formerly Kiwisoft) CatTools to manage my configs. With that software, I could execute a script that would generate a report. I am not quite seeing how to do that with Orion NCM.

for example - I want to run a simple command on all my devices (show boot) and get a report of the output for all devices in a single report. I dont see how to do that with NCM.

Don,

One thing you could do is look at the scheduled jobs and run the Execute Command script job.

On the Command Script tab, you could load or type in your commands, then set the notification to email you the results.

Alternatively, you can look at the Website and look into running a config template that may give you the results you desire.

I too am missing this functionality.
I ran a script from the Config Management Web interface - show standby brief - on 25 routers.

It then takes me to a transfer status page with 25 'Script Results' buttons.

Any idea if this is stored in text format on the server somewhere?

I did a search, but did not find any files. It must be hidden in the DB somewhere?

I would like this information written to 25 files which can then be shared out on the Orion NCM server.

I see how this can be done using the NCM job scheduler, but what about users that do not have RDP access to the NCM Win32 app and want to run ad-hoc sscripts/reports?

It seems Orion is good at finding and displaying data, but not at exporting the data in order to manipulate it off-line.

Kiwi was good at exporting results to files, both text and HTML.

Here is my nirvana scenario.

Run 'show standby brief' on 800 routers & export output to a file.

Run some type of compliance report show routers which do not have an HSRP neighbor.

Or run a complinace report to show wich routers are active and which are in standby.
