Address List Queue Length

Hello all,

I recently added the default application monitors for our Exchange 2003 Server. Under the APM Application Summary page the first of the Top 10 Components by Statistic Data is listed:

Address List Queue Length for our Exchange Server 2003

The Statistic Data is 4294967251.00, does anyone else have a number this large? Do I have a problem?

If you look at the trend over time as a chart you can determine your baseline for normal. As this counter is holding relatively steady this appears to be normal for your environment and not something you should be concerned about. If you see a sudden or steady increase in this value I would consider contacting Microsoft Support for guidance, especially if you were also receiving complaints from your users of outdated or slowly loading GAL information.

The Address List Queue Length shows the load the Recipient Update Service is under. If this value is consistently high compared to your baseline, you should seriously consider upgrading the server that has this role, or transferring the role from a weak or overloaded server to a more powerful one.

What is the historical trend for this counter? Is it still climbing or is it steady staying at that value?

It appears that the number is actually lower than when I first posted this question.

Thanks for the update. After checking it again over the last serveral days the number is going down. So I do not believe I have a problem as this time. If anyone else has this running on thier Exchange 2003 server I would interested in what thier number is.
