Connecting to server instance
robfurrball
All,
Thanks for the great tips on the forum so far it has been incredibly helpful.
We've been running solarwinds from a single computer running XP SP2 and I'm trying to migrate it to Windows Server 2003 and have an instance of Orion on a single desktop computer access the DB and use the polling engine on the server.
I've installed Orion on the server, the database and all nodes are updated and use the polling engine on the server, and I've ran the configuration wizard on the desktop pointing it to the SQL Server instance on the server (using SQL Server authentication, not integrated windows authentication).
I select to connect to the server's polling engine, but it says that says that permission is denied and that I need to ensure that the account I'm logged into on the desktop has an account on the server or to rerun the configuration wizard on the server.
The account on the desktop is a normal domain user, but is not a local user on the server. I've ran the configuration wizard on the server repeatedly to no avail. If I open the system manager on the desktop and use 'run as...' to run it under the admin account, it opens, but when I try to view events or nodes it says:
Run-time error '70': Permission denied
Any pointers on what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks again for everything so far.
