How I belive this works is for report comparisons as you state

Im my environment I backup all configs nightly also selecting the option to: remotely store / print / e-mail out the lines that changed.

I do not wish to see the entire config which can be pages, only 5 lines which generally is enough to give the interface and the changes made.

Example:
