Transmit Errors?

I know this isn't exactly a SolarWinds question but I never would have never known I had a problem without it.

It appears that a majority of my servers are reporting transmit errors on their network interfaces. The numbers are usually fairly low. Some are only one hundred or less a day, while others can be as high as several thousand a day. I have traced down where this information is being gathered from via SNMP. OID ifOutErrors 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.20 to be specific. My problem is that my Cisco gear is totally error free. The only errors I have are these transmit errors on the servers themselves. Can anyone explain what they might be and how to fix it? I've updated the drivers on all of the servers and that doesn't seem to help at all. The internet is sparse for information at best on what the cause of transmit errors are, least of all providing any useful information on how they can be prevented. All of my interfaces are gigabit Ethernet connected via shielded CAT6 AMP cable. Most network cards are Intel PRO/1000 MT, though I have a few Broadcom's that are also reporting the same problem. Any ideas?

Sounds like a speed/duplex problem. Is the server NIC set to auto-neg? I'm not familiar with the NIC but hard set both NIC and switch port to 100/full or 1000/full, whichever is your preference.

This is not a Duplex issue - that won't cause Transmit errors, but different kinds of Receive errors on the different ends of the interface. You will see CRC and Frame errors on the Full Duplex side, and you will see Collisions and Late Collisions on the Half Duplex side. None of these is a Transmit Error.
