Need you help on below points before upgrading our solarwinds NCM instance to 7.9. We have NCM 7.5 running in the environment with windows 2012 R2 and database SQL2012.
1) If I am upgrading my complete environment to 2016 both OS and database then in that case how to restore the backup on new instance. Is it possible to do that? do i need to run the installer on both application as well as database server?
2) Which are the important files that we have to take the backup in application server?
3) What in case if we have database server locally/means on the same server? How to take the backup and restore on new instance in that case.
4) If we don't have the database username and password currently with us then how to recover that? I know this thread already discussed on the forum many time but files which they mention is encrypted
and it is not possible to recover without DBA . If we are resetting that password then what are changes or where we have to change that password in the files? Do i need to run the wizard again?
