Ability to use $(NodeName) in Sylsog Alerting

I would like to be able to use variables such as $(NodeName) as part of a Syslog alert. It seems like there should be a better link between the syslog data and the NPM data. Although through the web site I can drill directly from the hostntname to the device page with a lot of deves Syslog alerts are not as intuitive with only the ability to display the hostaname and IP.

i too would like this ability.

We have syslog email alert for OSPF status. The hostname is in the syslog viewer, but when setting up the email alert, I cannot get the host name.

${IP} works, and will list the IP of the node that issued the syslog event, but ${nodename}, ${systemname}, and ${sysname} do not work.

Maybe I am doing domething wrong?

Another vote for the ability to use Node and Interface variables in the Syslog Viewer Alerts similar to the NPM Alert Engine. Something like ${SQL:Select Caption from Nodes where IP_Address = ${IP}}

I also will go ahead and note my support for this feature request, along with a big plug for better integration of Syslog in general in NPM. Alerts should be managed through a unified alerting interface that handles syslog, traps, and SNMP pollers.
