NPM Keeps Reporting Linux Reboot nightly but uptime is 45 days

From the uptime command shown below you can see the system's been up.

[scooby@netmon ~]$ uname -a

Linux netmon.pcmt.local 2.6.9-55.0.12.EL #1 Wed Oct 17 08:06:32 EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

[scooby@netmon ~]$ uptime

09:52:40 up 45 days, 22:07, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

..but note this alert I see every morning. Whatup with that??

The SNMP counter you're polling is probably 32bit. When that counter reachers a certain max number it wraps back to zero. And then Orion things it has rebooted.

I have a similar problems where I have a couple nodes running a flav of linux. I get reboot notifications every once and awhile, but the node hasn't actually rebooted. I still haven't figured it out.

i have same problem on solaris and free BSD, and even windows on occasion (and it is not SNMP restarting)
