Creating an Alert When Default Polling Exceeds the Polling Time?

We currently have our Node and Interface Default Polling Time set for 60 seconds. We are pushing the limits of our one polling engine and are in the process of adding a second polling engine. In the meantime, is there a way to create an alert that will generate if and when the polling engine exceeds the 60-second polling time?

Not at present, but perhaps a SQL trigger could be created on the engines table to fire an email if the Polling Completion rate drops.
