Why does NPM try to telnet to switches?

I have a wierd problem with my NPM server, at 2:00am every day it tries to telnet to switches

I get a page of these in my syslogger

                2012/07/11 2:00:12 AM  10.10.10.22         Informational    :#1 Disallowed connection attempt from IP address: 172.16.6.30

                2012/07/11 2:00:12 AM  10.10.10.22         Informational    :Unauthorized connection attempt from IP address: 172.16.6.30 by TELNET.

                2012/07/11 2:00:12 AM  10.10.10.21         Informational    :#1 Disallowed connection attempt from IP address: 172.16.6.30

                2012/07/11 2:00:12 AM  10.10.10.21         Informational    :Unauthorized connection attempt from IP address: 172.16.6.30 by TELNET.

Is there anyway to stop this?

I got some help from Solar Winds.

You have to run the Orion Network Configuration Manager program, not settings from the web page.

Off the opening page is Quick Start. The tab beside it is Scheduled Jobs.

Uncheck the jobs you dont want to run (with mine it was Nightly Config Backup at 2:00am). I dont even remember setting it up, but meh?

Update for Case #364374 - "NCM attemps telnet connections" Hi Roger, I believe you have a pending job or task that is initiating the NCM to telnet to that device. You may want to check your task/job list on your NCM manager. Also, you can go to the NCM console and check weather there is any pending task. Definitely there is one, that is why NCM is trying to communicate with this device. Basically NCM will only initiate telnet/ssh if a certain task is run or schedule or there is a pending one otherwise no telnet attempt will be made. Hope that clarifies.
