Hi Folks. I'm new to Solarwinds and need your support to build a rack map in Solarwinds. If you have idea about it can you please share with me/us or share link which can help me to build it.
Thank you,
Santosh
Have you ever used network atlas? If not I would suggest using the link below as as guide. Basic Idea is you find an image of your rack and then overlay your nodes or objects like interfaces etc that you want to see status leds of. You can when you get more advanced add hover overs tool tips in the webgui to show custom fields and other object values. Do keep in mind the next generation of online mapping is coming which may offer an easier less manual route. Let me know if you need assistance or have question beyond this reply.

Hi Adam. Thanks for the response and link. I do have basic knowledge on Network Atlas and I have worked for world map view mapping but seems like rack map is a different zone. Is there a way to get a rack view map image in network atlas or we need to import it from somewhere else? If you have resources for rack map designs then it would be a great help for me to visualize it and work on it.

TerryHarding found a good link but the basic idea is you create an image in another app like paint visio etc your choice and then when you open a map in network atlas make it the background by right clicking the blank space and selecting a background image you save on you pc or the network. You then over lay the items such as interfaces, nodes, volumes, UNDPs, applications, components. It is all manual but you can create great status visualizations up to including weather maps with motion and such.
thank you TerryHarding. It will be a great resource to start my rack map work. thanks a lot.
thanks Adam. Now I got a brief idea on how to start. your response helped me a lot on it. Thanks.
