APM v3 WMI issue with Windows 2000

Hi all,
great to see APM3 finally in GA - my install was very painless I'm happy to report (unlike my NPM upgrade to v9.5).

Only problem I've found is that WMI monitors with Windows 2000 machines seems to be broken - previously I had about 20 servers being monitored with WMI that worked fine - now they're all complaining with this error -
Unexpected Error Occurred. Invalid Query.

My 2003/2008 machines are all fine - maybe a change with the way WMI works in APM3? My Windows Service Monitors on the same devices work fine. Time to raise a support ticket?

First impressions of APM v3 - very much faster - it used to take nearly 8 or 9 seconds to open the main APM page - now it loads in less than 2. The slowness I saw with APM2.5 and the Down Applications resource is fixed and things feel definately faster - thanks guys!

I'm looking forward to spending some time with the Automated Application Discovery - something I've been wanting for a while now

Thanks for the ticket. We've been able to reproduce. It looks like if the poll returns a negative value for CPU (which is what we see in your diagnostic), then we fail to deal properly with all of the processes. We're investigating more to see what the problem is.

Thanks for the kind words. They are much appreciated. For the WMI issue, could you try one of the monitors that doesn't work and use the new "Performance Counter Monitor"? It polls the same monitors, but it uses RPC rather than WMI to get the counters. If that works, it might be informative.

Hi Denny,
ok - I created a new Performance Counter Monitor for the server and it worked fine (used avg disk bytes/read).

I also tried using the Windows Service Monitor - that also worked fine - so looks like just a problem with WMI Process Monitor and Windows 2000 boxes.

Since I realised that maybe the problem was the WMI process monitor I just tried using the WMI counters and on the same node it worked fine pulling up the default memory counter.

So - in conclusion - looks to me like the problem is with the WMI Process Monitor only since the WMI counters seem to work...

(Btw in this case the servers I'm monitoring using the WMI Process Monitor I was actually checking for a specific EXE running - I can switch this over to using the Windows Service Monitor which gets me out of this problem since the EXE is running as a service on the machines anyways.)
