Network connection failed. HResult: No data to return. Error: Unable to connect to the specified computer, or the computer is offline.

I'm getting a message in SAM, "Network connection failed. HResult: No data to return. Error: Unable to connect to the specified computer, or the computer is offline." The computer being monitored and is online,

the service is up and started, and i'm not sure why i'm getting this message.

Could you provide more information?

Is this happening on all applications on certain node? Or on all nodes? Or is it just one application? Which one then? Was the application(s) working before alright?

This is a fairly generic error that simply means it was unable to connect to the remote host. This could be caused by Windows Firewall settings, inline firewalls, router access control lists, etc. between the Orion server and the host being monitored. I would recommend trying something like WMIExplorer from the Orion server, connecting to the remote host. This should help to determine if this is a connectivity issue or a separate problem with SAM.

The above fix didn't work for us.

It turns out the Remote Registry Service on the device was not running. Once I started the service IIS monitoring started working again.

Remote Registry service was disabled and stopped. Once we enabled and started the service, it started working.

Basically, the SAM application "Microsoft IIS SMTP Server" relies on Performance Counter Monitors and Remote Registry seems to be a requirement (besides of WMI credentials).
