Database purge

Hello,

Is it possible to schedule a job that would run every week and will purge config older than 1 year old?

In other words, every week I would like to be able to purge configs that are older than 1 year from the current date.

It is possible to schedule a purge job but the thing is that you have to specify a specific date.

It is with version 5.5. If you do not have version 5.5.or 5.5.1, an option you might cosnider is to check the option to only save configs that have changed.

 

To schedule database configuration file purges:
1. Click Schedule > Create New Job.
2. Click Purge Old Configs from Database, and then click Next.
3. Specify a descriptive job name, and then click Next.
4. Provide a schedule that governs when you want the job to run, and then click Next. This schedule does not specify the span of configuration files to delete, only the time to run the job.
5. Provide credentials for the job, and then click Finish. These credentials provide the context under which the job is executed and the specified account must have write, modify, and delete access to the Orion NCM database and be a member of one of the following Windows security groups: Administrators, Backup Operators, or Server Operators.
6. Review the information on the General tab, it should reflect the schedule you specified in Step 4.
7. Click the Nodes tab. If necessary, use the All Nodes in the Database button to change what nodes are affected by the purge job.
8. Click the Purge Configs tab, and then specify the time after which you want to delete unnecessary configuration files. If you are comparing to baselines or want to preserve your baselines, ensure you check Do not purge baseline configs.
9. Click the Notification tab, and then specify the type of notification you want when this job runs.
10. If you want to change the context under which the schedule job runs, click the security tab and specify a differen user name and password.
11. Click OK.
