NCM/NPM Node attribute updates

Question

We are running NPM 9.1 & NCM 5.0SP1.

We have configured the job in NCM to pull in new nodes from NPM.

What I have noticed is:

If I change the management (loopback) IP address on a device in NPM, the new device attributes do not get reflected in NCM, and as a result the device is no longer reachable in NCM.

I am hoping to make all changes in NPM (new nodes, change of loopback address, deleting of nodes).

Am I doing something wrong, or asking more than what is currently capable in NCM?

I would create a custom column in NCM called NodeID and match on that.  This is independant of the IP address and how Orion keeps data for a node even if the IP changes.  Obviously should be a unique ID.

We use the IP address as the key for matching and merging attributes.   If this changes in NPM, there is currently no way for NCM to know about this.   More integrated node management is planned for a future release.
