ASA IPS's : Connectivity issues discarding config file. Device IP : x.x.x.x

We have several ASA IPS's and I seem to have the same problem with them all when I try to download the config in NCM. I search the Thwack database but the questions / reviews are a couple of years old. Can anyone perhaps give me advise as to get this working. My current version of NCM is 8.3.177.

What is the problem you are having?

The main thing to make sure you do is to set the device template to the ASA template and not leave it as Auto Determine.

I have set the ASA IPS's to "Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance" however it gives me the "Connectivity issues discarding config file" error and wont let me back up the config.

I have the communication set as SSH and I verified that I have the NCM IPs in the access-list to allow connectivity and snmp.
