How to change the Database maintenance Frecuency to weekly

Hi folks.

I need (if possible) a way to change the frequency of the "daily" maintenance job to a more wide consideration, for instance every sunday at 10:00 a.m. i saw the "Database-Maint.exe.config" file, but there's no parameter which i can chance to do that. please let me know. thanks in advance

I don't believe this is possible. Also I personally believe even if it was possible it would be unwise to do so. Part of what this job does is to "summarize" data. For instance if you have your system set to keep detailed statistics for 7 days, hourly statistics for 30 days, and daily for 6 months. That would mean every week it would have to summarize 7 days worth of daily statistics in one setting (since 7 days would have past since the last job). If the data is large this could cause your database size to grow at a faster rate and your maintenance jobs would take much longer to complete.

Might I ask the reasoning you are looking to alter this? Perhaps there are other options.

i was asked to do this since we have in our DB several other Databases from other products. Anytime the Solarwinds database maintenance runs, it alters the performance of the DB as a whole. I know this is not recommended by Solarwinds, but right now i can't chance the placement of the DB. If you can, let me know any recommendation for the DBA guys. Thanks for the info.

Ahh I see. I was hoping it was more of a SolarWinds performance issue as to suggest other alternatives. If it's impacting the SQL server as a whole it sounds as if the server may be undersized (just a thought I'm by no means a SQL expert).

Good luck all I can suggest is to schedule it for when it will least impact users. Sorry I can't be of more help.
