Was just wondering if Solarwinds supports DICOM monitoring or is there a way to have it trigger on any DICOM issues.
Thanks
You could definitely monitor the servers and workstations that run these tools but isn't dicom really an imaging file format mainly?
And a network protocol
Our care providers and their support staff regularly use dicom pings for troubleshooting communications between devices.

I'd be up for seeing how other Orion users leverage DICOM information with NPM or NTA to troubleshoot flows.
Ah this must be newer than in use than when I used to run a Giant OSPF network for NMRI images back in the 90's (during this time the backbone was all DS3/T3 and the doctors had ISDN at home)... you could monitor it with NTA then and look for port traffic... also make reports then. I honestly don't miss ISDN... it was sometimes a real pain.
We use Dicom with our PACS solution here at the hospital. Not sure if its dependant on the type of PACS your using
(we are a Siemens Plaza Pacs with Syngo Via etc).m I know our environment is quite event log intenstive, writing out every little thing
that goes on, into the Windows event log. We simply cherry picked all the relevant Dicom event codes, along with the Plaza & Via events
and put them into a new custom view we created and added those events . We then simply monitored that set of events in Solarwinds, is the simplest
way I can explain it. If your looking for something more specific between Dicom and PACS I would be happy to look into it for you by asking the PACS, Radiology Imaging, DIcom teams here, if they would know.
We use Solarwinds to make a TCP request on port 13000 and if the port is unreachable we have a trigger action to restart the service. . We also use PACS, but do not currently have anything setup (successfully) in solarwinds for these.
Looking to implement this as a solution in our environment as well, as we use PACS and CVIS for Radiology imaging and Cardiology. It would be ideal to see what SW can do with DICOM. I would imagine a big chunk of this monitoring could be done with SAM as well?
SAM definitely enhances NPM's ability to monitor... actually NTA also can greatly help especially if your are running into issues with bandwidth and the amount of data and type flowing through the pipes.
