Setting up a server to accept remote WMI for SW monitoring

I am looking at the potential of moving away from using the SW SAM Agent for monitoring. realizing this is really a MS question, I ask anyway... How do I setup WMI to be able to use it for monitoring? A bare min config would be best to keep my sec people happy. Please let me know, thanks!

Perhaps you can share why you are looking to move away from agent based monitoring?

This will assist should you decide to move away from the agent. It also provides information on "taming" port ranges in effort to satisfy the security team.
