NPM Crashes when I try to use it

I'm running an older version of NPM and can't upgrade right now because the money has been on hold to pay for maintenance and I'm running into a serious issue today.

When I try to expand any device NPM stops responding. I've reran configuration wizard, restarted the processes, and restarted the server, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have an idea. Thanks

Could you have run out space in the database? Give us some specifics. What is the setup? Single server or distributed? What version of Orion, on what OS. What's the database running on? etc.

We have about 400 GB left on the drive. The server holds the application, the website, and the database. It's currently running on SQL2000.

4GB RAM

3.6GHZ Dual CPU Dual Core Intel Xeon on Microsoft Windows Server 2003

It's running version 7.8.5 We have been hoping to remedy this soon, but for now our maintenance has expired. It should be taken care of today, but we'll see.

It is a busy system, we are monitoring over 7,000 elements polling the interfaces and devices over 5 minutes

I'm also recieving the error Run-time error '462': The remote server machine does not exist or is unavailable.

I've uninstalled V7.8.5 and reinstalled it and I'm experiencing the same issue.

Orion ver 9.0 sp2

Originally was running everything on single server.

original server: IBM xseries_354 dual-cpu 2.80 ghz/ 2.79 Ghz 3.75 gb ram

new server: dual-cpu 2.0 ghz/2.0 ghz 2.0 gb ram

We updated Orion from 8.5 to 9.0 sp2 before attempting to move OrionNPM to another running server2003. We left the sqlserver 2005 standard on the original server.

1) Initially ran into sql error "....something to the effect that the default for sqlserver 2005 does NOT allow remote connections.
Google docs suggested running sqlserver 2005 surface area configuration and changing remote connections to tcp/ip and pipes.

..finally ran configure wizard on new server and connected to the original sqlserver 2003 on original server. when the Orion Network Performance Monitor runs ...two db's appear the one running on the local/host ?? and the orion db running on original server.

I select the orion db from original server - it returns that the polling engine is not started, do I wish to restart...OK then
