Error Downloading Config to SFTP Host: (Host Server Address)

I am having an issue with downloading configurations from five of my Cisco devices.

The equipment is at the border of the network or in between firewalls. These devices are monitored and known by NCM. They can also athenticate via the user/enable pw and using the SNMP V3 settings.

Does SFTP use a different port other than 22?

It is supposed to be port 22 (I'll double check)

Have you looked at the trace content when the problem happens (settings...)?

Don't forget to turn the trace off after

One quick question. Are you asking me to run a trace from the SolarWinds server to the equipment in question? If yes then I did and the route was confirmed. If there is something different that you need from me please let me know.

One router and one switch are located across our WAN

One router and two switches are on the local LAN, but behind two firewalls.

are you able, as a test, to manually login to the device, and use SFTP to transfer the files?

Yes, you need to look at the tracefile generated by this tool.

Seems like you did this, but I don't understand your point about the "route confirmed".

Dclick's point above is also a good way to eliminate options and narrow down your search.

I use Secure CRT (SSH V2) to log into all my Cisco equipment. I do not have a problem with that. Also when I am looking at the NCM and I select one of the devices that I am having issues connecting to. I can authenticate to the device via NCM, its only when I try to download the running or startup configuration that I get the message Error Downloading Config to SFTP host (server IP). I have also confirmed with my firewall person that the request is passing through the FW and getting to the device. We are no seeing any traffic blocked on the return. We are wondering if SFTP is using a different port.

I am not monitoring any VM/ESX devices with Orion. Will this tool help me figure out why i cannot download five out of 208 node configurations.

I know for us, I had to change my default settings on how configs are downloaded (i think i have mine set to use SSH auto right now). I saw this once before.
