I have begun looking at scripts to backup our current ESXi deployment. Main purpose for this is to identify change in the configs - which tries into change management. Also, to be able to restore a server a bit more rapidly.
Anyway, I know there is a command line too out there that creates a single backup file. It can run from the ESX CLI.
So, I have the line that needs to be set to run from within the ESX CLI, and then pass the credentials. But really have not started hammering out a script to automate it within Solarwinds. It would be nice to be able to take advantage of the famework that is already in place for configuration management.
I am sure I am not breaking new ground here. If anyone can point me in the good direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Yea - I have all ready played the Google game and tried using the search here.
I know there are other ways to make this happen, like using host profiles, however, the price jump from Enterprise to Enterprise Plus, is a bit over the budget I may be able to squeeze out of the bean counters. I would be nice to leverage a tool I already have.
Thanks!
