I do not believe there is a function to allow me to build the environment that I would like to build for my environment, but then I could be wrong. I have previously spoken with the support desk who I believe have logged a enhancement call but I don't know how long that will take and if it is even viable. I'm hoping someone here has been able to get some good results using the views and grouped by aspects of Solarwinds.
When I am looking at the Home / Summary Screen in Solarwinds I can see all the Nodes and they are grouped by Vendor, Status. Is there anyway that the groups that Solarwinds has can be adjusted? I would love to get these into their own specific Node groups (rather than just having a generic list of vendors that the SNMP data will allow it to be categorised) so that I can generate group specific Node Details pages.

I understand that there is also an "All Groups" section where servers can be grouped (so say you had a Citrix Farm, you could have a group called Citrix Farm with the Citrix servers listed under that group. That's all fine, however I would like to get a custom page for my Citrix Farm. The problem with our Solarwinds is that the actual Node Details that these servers belong to is shared by everything else. So if I customise a page for a Citrix server for example, because the "Node Details" page is something that is the default for everything, it changes everything else that uses Node Details. If you create a new page, which is the Node Details, it overwrites the existing Node Details page (it's works fantastic for a Citrix server but not for a Mail Server for example).
I have managed to create a toolbar that is a summary page but the options available for that page is limited in what can be displayed, and some of the available information that can be found in Node Details is not available. Additionally the summary page is more a summary of a group of servers and not customisable to one specific server if I wanted to add an additional metric to it (i.e. 1 application server could need a different metric to another application server even if they are both Windows and show some similar information).
Is there anyway to make this possible? Particularly generating a custom page specifically for each group type (i.e. Application Servers, Domain Controllers, Mail Servers, Citrix servers etc. etc.)?
The only way I have been able to get this done is to (i) Create a poller (ii) assign the poller to the server and this then lets me see some of the information I am after. I would really like to ability to customise a page specific to a server (node).
