Planning upgrade from 5.6.2 to 5.7

We are planning on doing an upgrade from 5.6.2 to 5.7. How long does the upgrade take? I know the 5.3.3 to 5.6.2 took about 2-3 hours for us since it had to do the database upgrade. Is there anything in 5.7 that can take a while? Also, have the steps for upgrading stayed the same? Ex) Run the upgrade setup and click next a bunch of times... ?

The upgrade process does involve extending the database schema, so making a backup is highly recommended prior to doing any upgrades. In regards to actual "upgrade time," that really depends on the size of your database and the hardware on which it was running. Most upgrades have taken less than one hour, but very large data sets can take up to 6 hours (though this was a HUGE Database).

What do you consider a huge DB? Ours is about 30GB.

Several hundred gigs would be a huge database. I'm guessing that you would be about 30 minutes for an upgrade, but that's just a ball park estimate without knowing more specifics.
