Monitoring and polling speific router interfaces

Dear All

In our network (Bank network) every branch router have two interfaces which are reserved for ISP. One for primary ISP and second for secondary ISP. Both interfaces have static ip and in case primary ISP is down link is shifted on secondary ISP. We need to monitor these two interfaces status + alert generation i case any of these two is down.

Any idea how can we monitor these special interfaces? Can we poll them as node or can it be done without displaying them as node?
