Is there a way I could use or setup AD authentication to log into my Orion website?
i've been told Orion does not work with AD.
however, the NPM admin guide, page 256, discusses using IIS NT Pass-through authentication. this sounds interesting, but i have not tried it yet. i use the straight and bland Manage Accounts in Orion website.
Pass-thru authentication works just fine. We've used it for years so that allows us to bypass having to log into the website each time. The admin guide explains how to set this up.BB
Pass-thru works only for individual user account or the "everyone" account in the Domain. It does not work with AD groups (a very useful function requested by many).
This is easily done.
Go to your IIS settings under computer management on your server running orion and then go to the properties of the Solarwinds Netperfmon website.
Under the directory security settings tab check the first box in the lower half of the Authentication Methods, Integrated Windows Authentication and that should do it.
I had a bear of a time getting this to work. It appears that this might have been unique to our site but finally got it working...
I had to check 'Enable HTTP Keep-Alives' under Web Site Connections in IIS.
I thought that was a defualt setting? If not then yes you need to have that checked.
Thanks for the heads up on that part.
What are you doing with this feature? I still have to login to the orion website once I get past the IIS login....is there a way to remove the Orion login step?
thanks
