All,
I've searched around looking for this type of post, but don't really see anything. I'm having a hard time focusing (aren't we all) on where to start. The reports in NCM are a great starting point, but as with any environment, don't entirely meet my requirements. For example, not all security settings on a switch are the same on a router; so the generic security report doesn't meet all my requirements because I need things that are router or switch specific. That said, I wanted to reach out to the experts and see where you are taking your reports, and what you are including in your reports, so that I can begin focusing on how to build things that meet my requirements.
I'd like to end up with a set of configuration reports for devices that can help me maintain a standard setup on all my devices. Layer-2 only switches are all the same, Layer-3 switches are all the same, routers, ASAs, etc. I don't really have a compliance standard to maintain, this is mostly for me to maintain a "cookie-cutter approach" to all my devices; making my life easier in terms of troubleshooting.
Any and all ideas are good ideas.
